Exploring using AR and VR- Round 2

Welcome back for round 2 of my explorations with AR and VR! For this week's work, I have identified 2 of the tools I wrote about in my previous blog. With these 2 specific tools, I have spent more time trying them out, exploring them, and thinking of specific ways that they can be used in school settings and in my content area. The first tool I would like to identify is Google Earth VR. I particularly enjoyed playing around with this tool because the possibilities seemed endless. You can literally virtually visit ant place in the whole entire world. I believe this could be useful in school settings in a number of different areas. Specifically, in social studies and geography. Although this is not my content area, I just think this is such a great tool that could help build students' knowledge. Working with TurtleBlocks

Whew! Where do I start?! I will honestly admit that this week's tech assignment was a very challenging one. I know I had no prior knowledge of coding before this class, but I did not expect it to be this difficult. When our professor first introduced TurtleBlocks to the class, it seemed daunting, but I actually did catch on to the tasks we were instructed to do. As our assignment for this week, which was to write the code for our name in TurtleBlocks, was announced, I was a little scared. Little did I know that fear would turn into apprehension and frustration. When I started trying to work on the assignment, I felt optimistic. I began playing around with the few blocks that I was familiar with. To my disadvantage, I did not know how to use majority of the blocks. Tech Self-Assessment: Weaknesses

 Here is the last column of my technology self-assessment, which was titled very weak/no idea: Content and Media Creation Very Weak/No Idea Web pages: I cannot create web pages. I cannot add links to other pages. Charts/Diagrams: I can use digital tools (e.g., LucidMap, Google Draw and CmapTools) to create charts and diagrams. I can share digital diagrams on web pages/social networks. Dealing with Data/Data Visualization Very Weak/No Idea I am not familiar with tools that are useful for creating infographics and data visualization. Collaboration/Annotation/ Feedback Very Weak/No Idea I do not know how to collaborative white board spaces such as Mural and Padlet to collaborate with others. I do not know how to use collaborative annotation tools (such as Hypothes.is) to annotate and comment upon web pages and pdf files.
